SkyCable brings Christmas cheer to Tacloban with concert screening

SkyCable Corporation COO Rodrigo Montinola welcomes Tacloban survivors as they gather at the Astrodome for the free screening of the ABS-CBN Solidarity Concert.

MANILA, Philippines - Families and residents of Tacloban were treated to a night of entertainment as ABS-CBN’s Solidarity Concert was aired on the SkyCable Viewing Station at the Tacloban Astrodome last Dec. 16.

Entitled “Kwento ng Pasko, Pag-asa at Pagbangon: The 2013 ABS-CBN Christmas Special” was aired for free to continuously provide entertainment to families seeking temporary shelter in the Tacloban Astrodome and other nearby evacuation centers.

More than 100 celebrities united for a night of Christmas cheer at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Dec. 10. ABS-CBN’S biggest and brightest stars such as Kris Aquino, Vice Ganda, Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Montes, Angel Locsin, and John Lloyd Cruz all showed their talents for the benefit of survivors from the areas affected by Typhoon Yolanda.

Through the airing of the Solidarity Concert, families were able to feel the spirit of Christmas with the performances from their favorite Kapamilya stars and artists. This is in line with SkyCable’s commitment of bringing quality entertainment to every Filipino family, most especially those who are in need.

“Similar to what we have held in the past, what we are doing here is our own little way of touching the lives of those who were affected by Typhoon Yolanda, especially this yuletide season. By showing the Solidarity Concert at Sky’s free viewing stations, we are hopeful that this will help keep the fire of hope inside of them alive. We want them to know that they can overcome their challenges, and by witnessing the concert that gathered thousands of Filipinos, they will see that they are not alone because the whole country is one with them,” said Ray Montinola, SkyCable COO.

The cable company has provided open viewing stations, not just in Tacloban but also other affected areas such as Capitol Grounds and Redemptorist Church Grounds, the town plazas of Medellin, Cebu; Ormoc, Leyte; Estancia and Concepcion, Iloilo and Guiuan, Samar. These stations were operational a week after the typhoon struck the Visayas region.
