MANILA, Philippines - Avon Philippines hosted its annual National Sales Convention (NASCON) for 2012 at the jampacked Smart-Araneta Coliseum, where warm and hearty greetings of “Good morning, Avon!” echoed throughout the venue. Themed “The Heart of Champions,” the Avon National Sales Convention 2012 was inspired by the spirit and excitement of the recently concluded London Olympics.
Hosting the event were actor Richard Gomez, comedian Epi Quizon, and Avon zone manager Josette Dequina, with host Drew Arellano and Avon’s Mitzie Sabiano taking the stage for the promo segment. The event was star-studded, with guest performers Jed Madela, The Company, Bituin Escalante, and John Santos livening up the program. Personalities who graced the show also included Avon endorsers, ambassadors and advocates Anne Curtis, Alice Dixson, Lucy Torres-Gomez, Shamcey Supsup, Sarah Lahbati, and Angel Locsin.
The employees themselves performed, starting off with the Parade of Colors that introduced the regional groups of Avon. After which, everyone stood up to participate in the Avon song, followed by a screening of Avon’s Heart of the Champions AVP, which set the mood for the event.
Avon executive director for sales Emie Nierves surprised the crowd when she went all-out for a song and dance performance, while Avon Philippines president and general manager Kanwar Bhutani didn’t let the audience down when he emerged in boxing attire and sang his rendition of Eye of the Tiger.
After the energetic cheers of the crowd died down, Bhutani finally gave his first-ever NASCON speech, having joined Avon Philippines early this year. “Because of all your hard work, Avon continues to be the number-one direct-selling company in the Philippines,” he began, addressing the 8,000-strong crowd composed of Avon representatives and associates. “The true Olympians are in this room,” he added.
Bhutani also shared his personal venture with the company: “I was 19 years old when I joined Avon by accident,” he said. “As an intern, I just went in to try the opportunity. But I loved the business so much that Avon become my company of choice,” he continued. “Now I am happy to be part of the company filled with hearts of champions. It’s touching that people want to join Avon because of the company’s contributions to society.”
Avon also granted several of their representatives’ wishes, and gave them more opportunities to make their dreams come true. To top it all off, the company for women and sponsor Ford Philippines gave away a brand-new pink Ford Fiesta car.
“NASCON is our Olympics because we have the same drive, spirit, heart, and purpose that motivated the Olympic athletes to push harder and be the champions of the games,” Bhutani pointed out during his speech. He congratulated the Avon Representatives for having hearts of champions, being “people who made a difference — seizing the moment, overcoming all odds, knowing no boundaries, and most of all, reaching farthest to get their dreams.”
