I quit my job because it required me to travel. I wanted to spend more time with my family, but now I realized that I should not have resigned because with this global recession it is so hard to find another job. What do I do now? Should I swallow my pride and reapply at my old company even if it means less money and now I have to report to someone who was in a lower position than me before?

Dear Carlos,
Given the economic situation we are all facing today, I think you should swallow your pride and reapply at your old company. Even if it means a lower salary or a lower position, tanggapin mo na (just accept it). It is too difficult not to have a job today and better a low salary than no salary at all.
Hopefully your boss will again see how good you are. Work twice as hard and prove your value to the company all over again. If you were good before, you have to be twice as good now. But you have to wait and be patient. Any promotion you might receive will take time.
Of course, if you have the capital and a good idea, your other option would be to put up your own business and be an entrepreneur. You can set up your own company or perhaps invest in one of the many quality franchises that are available on the market.

To Botox Or Not To Botox
Dear Nanay,
My wife is only 28 years old but she already wants to have Botox. I cannot understand why she wants to do it! I have nothing against cosmetic surgery but when you are not even 30, and only have imaginary wrinkles, I think it is too much. I want to be supportive but I do not understand and don’t want to pay for it. Hindi ba po sayang lang ang pera? (Isn’t it a waste of money?)

You have to ask yourself if you can afford to pay for her Botox. If you cannot or if it is beyond your budget, then maybe you can speak to your wife about how you want to be supportive but that there are other priorities you need to pay for first. I am sure she will understand.
But if you can afford it and you really want to please her, then maybe you should just go ahead and pay for her Botox. Huwag ka nang magtanong, kung bakit kasi maraming bagay na mahirap ipaliwanag. (Don’t ask why anymore, because there are things that are hard to explain.) Just be happy that she wants to be beautiful for you.
