MANILA, Philippines - The Lisa Macuja School of Ballet Manila will hold nationwide auditions for ballet scholars for its 2016 Summer Intensive Workshop.
Auditions are open to both male and female applicants, 10 years old and above, preferably with previous dance training.
Now in its 19th year, the workshops have been the entry point for discovering new talents, many of whom have become artists of Ballet Manila (BM). Among its roster of notable alumni are Christine Rocas of The Joffrey Ballet and Nazer Salgado of the Singapore Dance Theatre, Asian Grand Prix silver medalists Nicole Barroso and Rissa May Camaclang, as well as Ballet Manila artists Dawna Reign Mangahas, Alvin Santos and Jessa Balote.
The two-month workshop will start on April 4 and culiminate in the annual Just Dance recital on May 29 where students and scholars get the chance to perform on stage with BM company members in a professionally staged production.
For Metro Manila applicants, auditions will be held at 4 p.m. on Feb. 6 at the Aliw Theater. Registration starts at 3 p.m. at the theater lobby. Applicants must bring one 2x2 colored photo and their own dance gear. Registration fee is P250.
Regional auditions will be held in March for applicants from Baguio, Cebu, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro and Davao. Venues and schedules will be announced soon.
