MANILA, Philippines - Filipina-Swiss contemporary dancer and choreographer Cécile Müller with the dance group Troupe Élevée performed and wowed the audience at the Lokremise theater in St. Gallen, Switzerland on December 4.

Müller, daughter of Filipino national Karina Montemayor and Swiss national Ernst Müller, believes there is a great potential for artistic contemporary dance for second generation Filipinos in Switzerland and Europe.

Entitled “What if they’re right,” the performance which was choreographed by Müller herself and Desiree Myriam Gnaba, tells a story of grief, disorientation and fear of the unknown through versatile dance movements.

Müller, known for her expansive vocabulary of dance moves and contagious enthusiasm, performed a part in the choreography “An die Einsamkeit” by German choreographer Andreas Heise. Troupe Élevée thus executed a brilliant performance for a full house audience.

Troupe Élevée was formed when its members first met during their classes at the St. Gallen school for ballet and dance. The group seeks to bring contemporary productions to the stage to touch and move their audiences through dance, and contribute to the dance culture in Switzerland.
