Ryan Villamael, Micaela Benedicto and Jonathan Ching hold simultaneous shows — “Behold A City,” “A Continuous Movement” and “Elsewhere,” respectively — which open on Oct. 29 at Silverlens, second floor, YMC Bldg. 2, 2320 Don Chino Roces Ave. Ext., Makati City. The shows run until Nov. 21.
Sourced from photographs of built heritage and kitsch iconography, “Behold A City” is Villamael’s heterotopian proposition that projects the summary of our love and helplessness, nostalgia and disinterest of history.
In “A Continuous Movement,” Benedicto explores the transitory of nature of memory through architectonic aseemblies of objects and documented images.
In “Elsewhere,” Ching chronicles his wanderings across geographical and metaphorical spaces by combining images sourced from neighborhood ecologies, existing artworks and the landscapes of both fiction and memory.
