Japan Embassy holds orientation for scholars

MANILA, Philippines - The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) of the Embassy of Japan, in cooperation with the Philippine Association of Japanese Government Scholars (PHILAJAMES Inc.), conducted a pre-departure orientation for the 2014 batch of outgoing Japanese Government Scholars at the JICC Function Hall. The scholars will pursue further education in Japanese universities.

Ambassador Toshinao Urabe personally sent off the scholars with a warm message to inspire them, comparing their unfolding potential to the cherry blossom. JICC director Tatsuo Kitagawa also delivered the opening remarks, to motivate them to rise to the challenge of uplifting the future of the Philippines.

Since 1954, the Japanese Government Scholarship has sponsored the education of more than 3,000 Filipino students, continuing a legacy of cooperation and mutual understanding for over 50 years.
