Art handling workshop at Lopez Museum

MANILA, Philippines - Lopez Museum and Library will hold a one-day workshop on art handling on July 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lopez Memorial Museum, ground floor, Benpres Bldg. Exchange Rd. corner Meralco Ave., Pasig City.

Learn how to properly handle precious national treasures from Collection Management consultants Peter Natividad and Ricky Francisco.

The workshop will include lectures on Preventive Conservation and a demonstration of various materials and equipment commonly used for handling specific objects. The rest of the workshop will be an interactive discussion about handling two- and three-dimensional objects plus a hands-on activity on transporting objects.

Ricky Francisco is an independent museum, gallery and conservation consultant currently working with the Lopez Museum and a few other private institutions in Manila and Singapore. He is an advocate of Preventive Conservation and has received training from various institutions such as the ICCROM (Rome, Italy) SEAMEO-SPAFA (Bangkok, Thailand), the Heritage Conservation of Cultural Property in Lucknow, India. He is the founding member of the Philippine Museum Collections Management Group and sits as one of the board of directors for the Angono Artists Association.

Registration fee for the lecture is P1,500 inclusive of workshop materials, lunch and certificate.
