‘Distrongka’ at Pinto Art Gallery

“The Storyteller” by Dennis Frotozo

MANILA, Philippines - Pinto Art Gallery presents “Distrongka,” a group exhibition of Antipolo-based artists Daniel Aligaen, John Paul Antido, Edrick Daniel, Dennis Fortozo, Guerrero Habulan, Joven Mansit, Elmer Roslin, Jerson Samson, Jaypee Samson, Julio Samson and Reynaldo Samson Jr. The show opens on June 9, Sunday, 3 p.m. at Pinto Art Gallery, 1 Sierra Madre st., Grand Heights, Antipolo City, the exhibit runs until June 30.

While eliciting humor by the pun between the words distrongka and pinto, the show seeks to explore possible representations of the literal and metaphorical associations of the word distrongka. As the word suggests destruction of any material provision to secure enclosure, the artists aim to locate and/or actuate various literal and figurative meanings of the word.
