MANILA, Philippines - In celebration of its 50th anniversary this year, the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus (UPCC), known today as “Korus,” will embark on its 20th international world concert tour by performing in key cities in the US, Europe and Asia.
As a warm send-off to the Aliw Awards Hall of Famer, UPCC will hold a pamamaalam concert and Alumni Night titled “SingKwenta, SingKwela,” on March 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Philamlife Auditorium.
UPCC alumna and multi-awarded performer Nanette Inventor as well as alumni from UPCC Batches 1985 all the way to 1994 will perform as special guests.
“The pamamaalam concert will be our own way of saying our goodbyes for now and asking for everyone’s support as we share our God-given talents with the international community,” said Jai Sabas-Aracama, UPCC artistic director and conductor.
The six-month tour will bring the UPCC to several states in the US including Washington D.C., Oregon, California, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas, New York and New Jersey. Besides the US, the group will perform in European countries including Germany and Italy; as well as join choral competitions and festivals in Spain, Finland, Scotland and Hungary. Before heading back to the Philippines, the group will also be sharing their music in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.
