MANILA, Philippines - Doctor-turned-artist Amelia Medina Davies renders her subjects in a wide range of styles in “Beauty, As I See It,” her first one-woman show from Feb. 15 to 21 at the Grand Atrium of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall. Featured is Davies’ 40-piece collection of works she has amassed over the last 10 years.
Models include broadcasters Cheche Lazaro and Jessica Soho, fashion retailer Xandra Ramos, the artist’s mother, as well as close friends, and friends of friends. And then there are her works inspired by the Bible stories she grew up reading and listening to.
Proceeds from the show will go to Shepherd of the Hills Children’s Foundation college scholarship fund. The 33-year-old organization — with shelters in Quezon City, Zambales, and Baguio City — is run by Nathanial and Ruth Mejica, social workers who raise the 100 orphans in their care like their own children.
