MANILA, Philippines – In observance of the recently concluded National Arts Month, Danny Dolor, chairman of the Tribung Pilipino Foundation, donated 500 copies of Inspired Calm: The Sober Realism of Domingo A. Celis by Santiago Pilar to the National Library of the Philippines, which will be distributed to various schools and colleges all over the country. The donation was accepted by officer in charge Yolanda Jacinto, and witnessed by Teresita Pimentel and noted Filipiniana book writer Visitacion Chit dela Torre.
“Bakas ng Lumipas,” a kundiman-harana concert, was also presented by the foundation. The concert featured two of the country’s top classical singers, soprano Liza Cabahug and tenor Conrado Ong, with accompanying artist Julie Mendoza.
The concert was attended by students from Ermita Catholic School, the Philippine Normal University, and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, as well as employees of the National Library of the Philippines, National Historical Commission of the Philippines and other government agencies.
The Tribung Pilipino Foundation, now on its 33rd year, continues to promote and preserve traditional Filipino music, kundiman, harana, balitaw and danza, organizing concert lectures in schools, both public and private, and honoring great men and women in music, literature and arts.
