MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Women’s University (PWU) School of Music honors its new president, Dr. Francisco B. Benitez with Parangal, a musical interlude featuring the works of the late National Artist for Music Dr. Lucrecia Kasilag and internationally renowned composers and interpreted by the country’s noted artists with PWU faculty and students tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the Conrado Benitez Hall, Taft campus, Manila.
Opening the program is Dean Dr. Felicidad Prudente who says Kasilag’s Evocation, Prelude Ethnika, Purihin si Yahweh and Pamana will be rendered by Rodel Hernandez, The Gongs of PWU, The PWU Guitar Ensemble with Chito Cariño and the PWU Festival Chorus conducted by Armin Comon and Richelle Rivera, assisting pianist.
Guests artists Rudolf Golez and Joseph Esmilla will play Treasure Waltz from Gypsy Baron by J. Strauss and E. Dohnanyi and Recitativo and Scherzo by F. Kreisler, respectively.
J. Brahms Sonatensatz will both be rendered by Esmilla on the violin and Golez on the piano, while Halvorsen’s Passacaglia will be interpreted by Carlo Tuazon (violin) and Arnold Josue (cello).
Buklod ng Pagmamahal of Buenaventura and a work of Mozart will be performed by Ma. Rosario Esmilla (violin), Michael Buenaventura (cello) and pianist Richelle Rivera. The event is organized in collaboration with the Center for Culture, Arts, Music and Sports headed by Suzie Benitez.
