MANILA, Philippines - Watercolorist Mitos Fernandez Schnabel, visited Manila recently, bringing with her some of her paintings. A giclee print of one of her favorite aquarelles, titled “La Igorota,” is shown in photo. Her works are currently on display and available for sale at the Village Art Gallery, at the 1st Level Home Zone, Alabang Town Center, with telephone number 850-7710. Mitos’ passion for art started when she was a student at Manila’s Assumption Convent School. In seventh grade, she won first prize in a national student art competition with a watercolor rendering of a typical Philippine village. She has maintained her lifelong interest in drawing and painting through many years by taking art classes with famous instructors in the numerous places where she has lived and worked, like Sydney (Australia), Los Angeles (California), Calgary (Alberta, Canada), and since the mid-’80s in Waterloo (Ontario, Canada). Her avocation has also helped her develop her talents in other artistic areas, such as calligraphy, rubber stamp art, and web page design. Mitzi, as she is better known abroad, also accepts commissioned work in both acrylic and watercolor media. For more details visit her website at http://www.mschnabeldesigns.comxa.com.
