MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Opera Company presents the Tony Award-winning play “Master Class” from July 29, 30 and 31, Aug. 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14 and 15 at Carlos P. Romulo Theater, RCBC Plaza, Makati City.
The play, which is about the legendary opera diva Maria Callas, is top billed by Cherie Gil.
“Maria Callas is known to be the epitome of discipline. I was compelled to get to know her though I knew it would be very a difficult show to fill. Perhaps, I personally was looking into seeing my own art through her eyes and finding a fresh start to loving my craft all over again,” Gil says.
Playing the students in Maria Callas’s master class are: Juan Alberto Gaerlan and Al Gatmaitan alternate as Anthony Candolino; Florence Aguilar as Sophie de Palma; Ana Feleo and Kay Balajadia-Liggayu alternate as Sharon Graham; and Francis Amora as the pianist, Manny.
