Step up & lead

CEBU, Philippines -  Many forget that all great men were once curious children. And so to help mold the next generation of leaders, First Pacific Leadership Academy (FPLA), the first corporate university in the country, hosted a two-day self-discovery workshop for the youth, titled Step Up! Summer Youth Camp.

Summer became more fun as 29 candidates came together to make new friends and realize their potential. The Step Up! Summer Camp offered a rare opportunity for the young adults to explore, understand and discover their strengths and weaknesses as individuals, through engaging team-based exercises and activities.

Recently held at the FPLA university grounds in Antipolo, the camp became home to 29 leadership candidates: Micaela Neslin Fadriquela, Andrea Sabina Manlutac, Kelsey Katrina Francesca Peña, Matthew Francis Zechariah Peña, Rob Stanley del Rosario, Alexander Jacinto, Teodulo Aro, Xian Tomas, Lee Tomas, Kendrick Noah Pangilinan, Shaun Andrei Bernardino, Mary Grace Buñi, Rico Angelo Samson, Kamille Margaret Salva, Antonio Gabriel Mendoza, Alejandro Joaquin Mendoza, Alexandra Nicole Mendoza, Roman Jorge Pascual, Maria Cristina del Mundo, Alberto Miguel Perez, Ysabelle Marie Briana Gregorio, Thea Violet Acervo, Maia Salsona, Ezio Johann Magdato and Angela Gabrielle Gregorio.

The exploratory workshop was facilitated by FPLA’s general manager and CEO Roy Agustin Evalle and his team, which included associate head of executive education John Zerbon Ong, program officer of EEIC Leomark Sanchez, program specialist Elaine Marie Relucio, project officers Gladys Antonio and Claro Abelardo Lagman, procurement officer Jose Melarion Jr., procurement specialist Ben Joseph Insigne, client servicing Mia Mitz Bernal and sales coordinator Jomari Pelagi.

“The camp’s approach to self-discovery is very unique and different from other leadership training workshops in the country. We focus on experiential learning and replace stiff lectures with fun, team-building activities, which all help the candidates gain insight on who they are and what kind of person they would like to be in a non-intimidating environment,” Evalle explains.

We should watch out for this batch of promising young Filipinos!
