Golden vows

“Love is a flower which turns into fruit at marriage.” â€” Finnish Proverb

Gold is associated with the wisdom of years and fruition, and this holds true for Oscar and Letty Calma, who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a renewal of vows at the Santuario de San Antonio in Forbes Park, Makati. The Spanish-era inspired church came into full bloom as spring was the chosen motif. The colors pink, green, violet, orange, gold and blue were respectively chosen by each of the Calma children — Liza, Oscar Jr., Lora, Leslie, Owen and Lalaine — to represent their families. Equally talented designers dressed the couple, with Letty wearing an elegant, fully-beaded gown by Patis Tesoro and Oscar wearing a polished piña barong made by Toby Albrando.

Reception followed at the Mandarin Oriental Manila,  where everyone enjoyed sumptuous dishes served by the efficient hotel staff. The Calma siblings and their children entertained the guests with a dance and song number while crooner Arthur Manuntag serenaded the couple with romantic songs that made everyone swoon.

Here’s to more blissful and wedded years, Oscar and Letty!
