MANILA, Philippines - They’re super and superb.
Glamour and glitz took centerstage as the lights were on for the annual “Women of Style and Substance” of PeopleAsia magazine. The much-awaited celebration of womanly allure and feminine mystique was staged recently at the Garden Ballroom of the EDSA Shangri-La, Manila in Mandaluyong City.
Eight accomplished women comprised this year’s magic circle: actress-TV host Anne Curtis, Rustan Commercial Corp. VP for merchandising Rhoda Campos-Aldanese, celebrity scion and entrepreneur Cristalle Belo Henares, senior VP and head of HSBC’s Retail Banking and Wealth Management Annette Wassmer-Tirol, Rags2Riches founding member and president Reese Fernandez-Ruiz, philanthropist and The Philippine STAR columnist Mons Romulo; cancer survivor and entrepreneur Ann Puno; and model-turned-designer Charina Sarte.
Charina, incidentally, also showcased her exclusive summer collection, together with the latest designs of SM Accessories, via a specially-choreographed fashion show as a fitting prelude to the awarding ceremonies.
With the recent launch of the magazine on the iPad application, PeopleAsia likewise unveiled its new, catchy logo. VIP guests, meanwhile, remained glued to their seats while awaiting the results of the night’s exciting raffle draw. The top prize, a KLM Business Class ticket to Europe, was won by Reese Ruiz.
Sponsors for this year’s “Women of Style and Substance” include American Express, Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, EDSA Shangri-La Manila, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Laura Mercier, Luxe A.List Desserts, NARS, Orly, Remington, SM Development Corp., SM Accessories, The Philippine STAR, Titania Wines and Unilever Philippines.
