MANILA, Philippines - “It was the party, and the only place to be, that night. I don’t think I have seen such a party before,” proclaimed Shangri-La Makati general manager Reto Klauser of The Philippine STAR’s silver anniversary celebration at the hotel’s Grand Ballroom, graced by close to 2,000 guests led by President Benigno Aquino III.
Twenty-five years ago, Mr. Aquino’s late mother President Cory Aquino was the special guest at the launching of The Philippine STAR, which was founded by the late Betty Go-Belmonte, Max Soliven and Art Borjal.
Thus, history mingled with power, beauty and glamour that golden silver night.
