One would think that with the success of Celestina, style icon-turned-businesswoman Tina Maristela-Ocampo would take the permanent leap from local business to the international scene. Not so. Although very much a part of Celestina, Ocampo is very much focused on her first retail venture: The Black Shop (TBS).
“I work on every aspect of TBS — design, sourcing, promotions, operations... you name it!” shares Tina.
This season’s collection adheres to the latest trend of mixing contrasting colors. “Color themes this season are all about bold yellows, greens, blues and oranges but The Black Shop restrains its collection by using muted tones of purple, mustards and corals to observe what is appropriate for the office without entirely being out of tune to what is current.”
Tina’s silhouette for The Black Shop is inspired by the structure, colors and patterns of the ‘50s. “I have always been a fan of this fashion era and all those short tailored, with cut-on-the-waist, jackets will always be my favorite,” Ocampo intimates.
She concludes, “Thin belts are the best accessories for this style and a better way to finish this polished feminine look is to have your nails manicured in red. Don’t be afraid to mix two unconventional colors in your wardrobe. It’s the best way to jolt those conventional work clothes.”
