Premier timepiece maker Citizen Watch Company Limited recently launched its Eco-Drive 2009 Collection in the Philippines during a star-filled reception at The Spa at the Bonifacio Global City, Makati.
Known for developing light-powered technology for timepieces for many years, Citizen is bringing in yet another fusion of complex functionality and simplistic yet refined style.
With a design architecture inspired by aeronautical gauges, the watch features a radio-controlled world time, an aviation slide rule, an alarm, chronograph, timer and light.
It is able to receive time radio waves transmitted in Germany, the United States and Japan, making it a must-have timepiece for active world travelers. By simply selecting the local area, the watch automatically captures transmissions from the nearest station, so the watch can display the precise time in Europe, the United States and Japan.
These Eco-drive light-controlled watches do not need battery changes and time adjustment, making them far more convenient for everyday use.
Water sports enthusiasts will enjoy the Aqualand Eco-Drive — the first light-powered diving watch in the world with an analog depth meter, making it Citizen’s top model diver’s watch. Featured with an innovative design that does away with the register ring, the Aqualand Eco-Drive measures and records logs of depth, temperature and diving duration as soon as it is immersed in water. It also automatically rests its minute hand to 12 o’clock to make reading the elapsed time is easier.
An essential gadget for worry-free diving, the Aqualand Eco-Drive also features a power reserve indicator which allows the driver to check the battery level before the diving session.
This year, Citizen Watch Company Limited introduces the Eco-Drive perpetual calendar watch that features a large size date display at the center of the face. With the unconventional combination of two different size disks, the date is easily seen. The perpetual calendar in the Eco Watch frees you from battery changes and date adjustments at the end of the month.
Citizen offers a variety of models that suits every occasion, and distinct user taste — from sports watches that provide critical precision and reliability to fashionable unique Ladies Watches.
Gracing the launch with their Eco-Drive watches were top model Bianca Valerio, Amazing Race Asia 2nd placer Geoff Rodriguez and Tisha Silang, singer and TV host Richard Poon, DJ’s Chico and Delamar of RX 93.1, Ms. Earth Priscilla Meirelles, model Karen Pamintuan, QTV’s celebrity host Sam Oh, Studio 23’s Jinno Rufino and Olympic swimmer and celebrity host Christine Jacob-Sandejas.
With a gracious introduction from Bianca Valerio, the brand AVP was shown followed by an inspirational message from Citizen Watches regional director Herman Li.
Li excited the crowd with Eco-Drive’s promise of “powered anywhere as long as there is light” in pursuit of Citizen’s desire to “tailor advanced technology to more convenient and user-friendly products.” He also highlighted how Eco-Drive is responding to the call of environmentally sound technological designs by having batteries that do not need to be discarded. This is in line with the company’s vision of being able to contribute to, and striving to be loved by the people — a core principle that has been bringing the company forward.
Sitti provided entertainment with her popular rendition of light songs, followed by a slideshow of Gutsy Tuason’s photowork, Inspired by Light. The watch collection was exhibited along the Fashion Runway by Mich Dulce and models from PMAP. To celebrate Eco-Drive’s debut in the Philippine social scene, guests partied all night with sounds by DJ Anton Ramos.
