A partnership of culture

“The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker.”— Attributed to Helen Keller

The International Wine and Food Society-Manila Ladies Branch (IWFS-MLB) and the Lopez Memorial Museum recently co-hosted a memorable three-in-one event to promote of the country’s rich and diverse culinary heritage. Lopez Musuem director Mercedes Vargas welcomed the guests of the exclusive gathering, which serves as a reintroduction of FOOD as a magazine that focuses on regional cuisine, the relaunch of the Doreen Fernandez Food Writing Award and the opening of the exhibit Hain: Memory Spreads. Vargas also expressed her gratitude for the trust given by the IWFS-MLB and her optimism that the partnership between the two will do much to promote and preserve Philippine culinary heritage.

Congratulations!

A dinner for Tony and Annie

An intimate gathering was recently held at the gorgeous home atop the La Vista hills of stunning jetsetter Nene Quimson as she hosted a dinner for lovely couple Tony and Annie Gonzalez.  The closest friends of the host and the couple attended the party and enjoyed an evening of scrumptious cuisine and wines and a whole lot of delightful conversation.  It was a truly enjoyable get-together of friends.

Cheers!

Life is a Cabaret!

It was a sassy, classy evening at Nini Mendoza-Mitchell’s most glamorous “Life is a Cabaret”- themed birthday party. The extravaganza was held at the Grand Copthorne-Waterfront Hotel in Singapore. Nini’s husband, John Mitchell, played the perfect host throughout the evening as his wife’s closest friends from all over the globe came over to visit and join the celebration.  A number of cabaret acts starring the celebrator herself and some friends entertained the guests. There was also a surprise performance by John Mitchell as he sang Nini’s favorite song, La Vie en Rose. It was an amazingly spectacular evening.

Happy birthday, Nini!  Wishing you many more to come!
