Michi Calica has sat down with countless brides-to-be in search of that one perfect gown. Ten years in the designing industry, she is synonymous with her signature style — up-to-the-minute without being shallow; pretty without being cloying; and glamorous without being intimidating.
For further studies, Calica attended the Art Institute of Seattle where she earned a Carolina Herrera scholarship and showcased her work in the Asian Fashion Grand Prix in Japan and Jeunes Createurs de Mode in Paris.
“Choosing a designer for your bridal gown can be a crazy experience,” Calica shares. “Fortunately, gowns do not have to cost a fortune to look great.” She offers the following sound advice to Yuletide brides-to-be:
• Be familiar with the designer’s work (Do you like his/her style? Is the workmanship good?)
• Does the designer come highly recommended by credible people?
• Do you know anyone who was happy with the experience of ordering the gowns at that designer’s company?
• Upon meeting the designer, did he/she understand what you were looking for?
• Did you like what you see?
If you answer yes to all these questions, then booking with this designer is a fairly safe bet.
