At 4 p.m. yesterday, the center of tropical depression “Quinta” was estimated in the vicinity of Roxas City, Capiz with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to move west-northwest at 22 kph.

“Quinta” is expected to be at 300 kms west-northwest of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro this afternoon.

At press time, storm warning signal No. 1 was hoisted over the Mindoro provinces, northern Palawan, Coron, Cuyo Island, Masbate, Romblon, Marinduque, Batangas, Biliran, northern Negros, Iloilo, Aklan, Capiz, Antique and Guimaras, which would experience winds of 30-60 kph in at least 36 hours.

Southern Tagalog and western Visayas will have rains and gusty winds and moderate to rough seas.

Central Luzon, the rest of southern Luzon and the Visayas and the entire Mindanao will be cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be mostly cloudy with rainshowers.

Coastal waters in the rest of Luzon and eastern Visayas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, seas will be slight to moderate.

Temperature forecasts: Metro Manila, 22-30 degrees Celsius; Baguio City, 15-23; Tagaytay City, 19-28; Subic and Clark zone, 23-29; Metro Cebu, 24-29; Metro Davao, 23-31; and Cagayan de Oro, 22-29.

Tidal predictions in Manila Bay: high tide at 3:08 a.m. at 0.87 meter; low tide at 12:25 p.m. at 0.04 meter. Sunrise is at 5:54 a.m.; sunset at 5:26 p.m.
