MANILA, Philippines — The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) expressed support yesterday for the White Ribbon March scheduled on June 28 at the EDSA People Power Monument, describing it as a call for truth and accountability.
“As our nation continues to confront the challenges of corruption, injustice and the erosion of public trust, let us not lose hope. On June 28, various religious groups will hold the White Ribbon March at the EDSA People Power Monument as a faith-based and non-partisan call for truth, accountability, justice and righteousness in public life,” CBCP president Gilbert Garcera said in a statement.
While encouraging participation, Garcera emphasized that the gathering should remain peaceful and prayerful.
“Those who, guided by their conscience and local circumstances, wish to participate in this peaceful gathering may do so prayerfully and respectfully,” he said.
“Let us remember that the true source of our strength is the Lord present in the Eucharist. Do not forget to participate in the celebration of the Holy Mass on Sunday, June 28. The power of the Eucharist renews hearts and transforms lives, enabling us to become instruments of justice, reconciliation and hope,” Garcera added.
The CBCP also released “A Nation’s Prayer for Enlightenment, Conversion and Renewal,” urging public officials to faithfully carry out the responsibilities of their offices.
“Our nation stands at a difficult crossroads. We see truth being cast aside, justice delayed and division weakening the fiber of our society… May they serve with honesty, justice and compassion. Grant them wisdom to act with discernment, strength to persevere with integrity and humility to seek not revenge, but righteousness; not personal ambition, but the common good,” the prayer read.
