MANILA, Philippines — Rain and thunderstorms are expected to affect several parts of the country during the Undas weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said yesterday.

As of 3 p.m., a low-pressure area (LPA) was located about 160 kilometers west-southwest of Coron, Palawan and is embedded within the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Palawan due to the LPA, which may cause flash floods or landslides during periods of moderate to heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, the shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Cagayan, while the northeast monsoon will cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains over Batanes.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds from the northeast to east will prevail over northern and the eastern parts of Central Luzon, with moderate to rough coastal waters reaching up to 2.8 meters.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
