MANILA, Philippines — A formal request for accused child rapist Apollo Quiboloy’s extradition to the United States is “forthcoming,” Philippine Ambassador to Washington Jose Manuel Romualdez said yesterday.

“There is a request, but the formal one, which will set the ball rolling, is the formal note verbale, which the Department of Foreign Affairs is waiting for,” Romualdez told reporters on the sidelines of the inaugural Manila Strategy Forum.

The Philippine embassy in Washington has been informed by the US government of the extradition request, he noted.

A federal grand jury in the US District Court for the Central District of California had indicted Quiboloy for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion and sex trafficking of children, sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, conspiracy and bulk cash smuggling.

On Nov. 10, 2021, a federal warrant was issued for his arrest.
