MANILA, Philippines — For people who have not found love, taking rescued pets on a date this Valentine’s Day could be the right place to start, according to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).
At the “Furst Date” fund-raising activity, Filipinos are encouraged to participate in a 30-minute date with dogs and cats at the PAWS shelter in Quezon City.
The event is set from Feb. 10 to 15.
Participants may choose a schedule for their date or sponsor a date for P750 through paws.org.ph/book-furst-date.
With coffee, cookies and pet food prepared, participants can go for a walk along Hello Kitty, western and outer space-themed areas.
“Animals will never break their hearts,” said PAWS executive director Ana Cabrera.
“People whose hearts have been broken and have not found their perfect match may be looking for love in the wrong places. The perfect match would be a shelter animal who could love them unconditionally because they too have had a tough time,” Cabrera noted.
Animals at the PAWS shelter have been living there for years waiting to be adopted, she said.
The group has been hosting “Furst Date” events since 2018.
