MANILA, Philippines — A man was killed in a shooting incident that took place near the southbound portion of the EDSA-Ayala tunnel in Makati at around 2 p.m. yesterday.
According to the police, the male victim, estimated to be 45 to 50 years old, was driving a white Toyota Innova when the unknown suspect, who was in a black Mercedes Benz sedan, fired shots at the victim.
Police said a road rage incident may have caused the shooting, citing witnesses.
According to a motorcycle rider, the victim had a woman and a baby in the car with him when the shooting incident happened.
He said the woman who was carrying the baby asked him for help.
The woman told him that the driver of the Mercedes Benz fired shots at the victim after they had an altercation on the road.
“The woman told me that they came from BGC. The two vehicles had an altercation on the road. They were supposed to go down through the tunnel while the Mercedes Benz was going up to Ayala Avenue. Then she heard a gunshot and that’s when she saw the driver fighting for his life,” the motorcycle rider told GMA 24 Oras.
The shooting incident caused the white vehicle to hit the tunnel walls and some motorcycles.
Traffic was temporarily halted along the southbound portion of the Ayala tunnel in the afternoon due to the incident.
