MANILA, Philippines — More than 1,300 illegal aliens were deported by the Bureau of Immigration in 2022, the BI reported over the weekend.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said a total of 1,339 foreigners who violated immigration laws were deported and subsequently blacklisted by the BI last year.

Topping the list of deported aliens were Chinese numbering 1,104, followed by South Koreans at 87; Vietnamese deportees at 39; Americans, 19, and Nigerians, 12.

Based on BI records, the deported foreigners had committed various immigration offenses, including overstaying their visas, violating the conditions of their stay, and being undesirable aliens.

“Despite the onslaught of the pandemic and the difficulties brought about by travel restrictions worldwide, the BI continued its arrest and deportation of illegal aliens,” said Tansingco.

“We remain relentless in our drive to rid the country of aliens who abuse our people’s hospitality and pose a threat to our society,” he added.
