DOH logs 15,566 new COVID-19 cases

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health on Friday reported 15,566 additional COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 2,565,487.

  • Active cases: 130,268 or 5.1% of the total
  • Recoveries: 23,483, pushing total to 2,396,726
  • Deaths: 199, bringing toll to 38,493

According to the DOH, positivity rate was 21.3%, based on the results of 63,850 people tested on Wednesday. 

Alert level system extended

  • The pilot run of the alert level system in Metro Manila has been extended until October 15.
     
  • The pandemic task force also approved the recommendation to expand by an additional 10% the allowable indoor capacities of dine-in services, in-person religious services, and personal care services in areas under Alert Level 4 for fully vaccinated individuals.
     
  • The reopening of fitness studios and gyms at a limited 20% capacity for fully vaccinated individuals has been approved. Gym workers must be fully vaccinated, and clients and service providers need to wear face mask at all times.
     
  • The filing of certificates of candidacy for the 2022 elections began on Friday as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage. Commission on Elections spokesperson James Jimenez said the compliance with health protocols was mostly good.
