MANILA, Philippines — A P3-million donation from GT Foundation, the foundation of the late Metrobank Group chairman S.K. Ty and his family, has kickstarted the Philstar Media Group’s “Tala Para Sa Kapwa” COVID-19 fund drive.

Aimed at benefiting vulnerable sectors affected by the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine in many parts of the country, Tala Para Sa Kapwa is a hybrid fundraiser and information drive of the Philstar Media Group’s humanitarian arm, Operation Damayan.

Damayan was started by STAR founding chairman Betty Go-Belmonte in 1989 and is now being continued by STAR president and CEO Miguel Belmonte.

Through prior donations from Ayala Corp., Metrobank Foundation, Robert Coyiuto, the family of Enrique Zobel and Anthony Trillo, Operation Damayan turned over millions worth of relief goods to Manila (5,000 families) and Quezon City (7,500 families).

Aside from GT Foundation, also sending their donations are regular Damayan donors Kenneth Lao, P50,000 and LV-TGFHA, P50,000.

Donations may be deposited to Philstar Daily Inc. Operation Damayan Metrobank Savings Account No. 151-7-15152422-9. Please email deposit slips to damayan@philstarmedia.com.
