MANILA, Philippines — The country commemorated the 121st National Flag Day yesterday with the simultaneous raising of the flag in 600 locations, according to the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).
The event remembered the Battle of Alapan, the first military victory of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo against the Spaniards, and the first flag-raising ceremony in Kawit, Cavite.
A similar ceremony was also held yesterday at the Heritage Park in Imus.
In Kidapawan City, Cotabato, members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and Knights of Columbus conducted a short program in a public plaza.
NHCP director Ludovico Badoy said the Philippine flag should always be kept clean and in order.
