'Enhanced Justice on Wheels' frees 332 detainees in North Cotabato

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines — Hundreds of detainees being held in local facilities in Cotabato province were ordered released over the weekend because of accelerated litigation on their cases.

Reports obtained Sunday from the office of North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza indicated that 332 detainees were released from through the judiciary’s Enhanced Justice on Wheels (EJOW).

Media outfits in Kidapawan City, the capital of the province that is also called North Cotabato, reported that it was the fourth EJOW activity in the province in recent years.

The symbolic release of the detainees at the provincial capitol in Kidapawan City was witnessed by the Mindanao-based deputy court administrators Leo Tolentino Madrazo, Raul Villanueva and Jenny Delorino.

Provincial prosecutors helped the EJOW program process the cases of the 332 who were released.
