MANILA, Philippines — Upon the invitation of President Rodrigo Duterte, Chinese President Xi Jinping will undertake a state visit to the Philippines from November 20 to 21.
This will be the first state visit of a Chinese leader to the country since former President Hu Jintao in 2005.
Xi's last visit to the Philippines was in November 2015 when he attended the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Manila.
Prior to his trip to Manila, the Chinese leader also attended the APEC Summit in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea and paid a state visit to Brunei upon the invitation of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
