MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police on Monday introduced the official PNP Gender and Development mascot, “PO1 Gadee” to the public.

The mascot was chosen last January.

PO1 wears a rainbow cape that represents LGBT pride.

“The mascot symbolizes the role of family, juvenile and gender development by giving an identity through a figure that can help communities to recognize and understand PNP’s advocacy on gender and development,” the PNP said during the launch of PO1 Gadee.

According to the PNP, PO1 Gadee was chosen because of its uniqueness, creative originality and design which represent the ideals of GAD.

The PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations launched the search for the PNP GAD mascot in October 2017 as part of its initiative to raise awareness on gender and development concepts, principles and the efforts of the police.

During the launch, the mascot also showcased a dance performance at the Camp Crame.
