MANILA, Philippines (First published Feb. 13, 2018; 8:45 p.m.)— A number of local government units announced suspension of classes on February 13, Tuesday, due to the anticipated bad weather caused by Tropical Storm “Basyang” (International name: Sanba).
Gingoog City Mayor Marie Guingona was among the first to announced class suspensions ahead of the onslaught of Basyang.
As of 5:00 p.m., PAGASA said Basyang has slightly accelerated while moving closer towards Eastern Mindanao. It is expected to make a landfall in Caraga Region on Tuesday afternoon.
The state weather bureau raised tropical cyclone warning signals over some provinces in Mindanao and Visayas.
