MPD records most suspects killed, guns recovered in anti-drug ops

The Eastern Police District, which operates in Marikina, Pasig, Mandaluyong and San Juan, had the fewest, with just 40 suspects ending up dead in the same period.

MANILA, Philippines — More drug suspects were killed in the Manila Police District than in any other district in Metro Manila, data from the National Capital Region Police Office shows.

According to data collected from July to early November, 256 suspects were killed in anti-drug operations of the Manila Police District. The Eastern Police District, which operates in Marikina, Pasig, Mandaluyong and San Juan, had the fewest, with just 40 suspects ending up dead in the same period.

The EPD also visited the most houses in its 'Tokhang' operations at 23,345 against the Northern Police District's 13,310. The NPD operates in Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela. There were 152 suspects killed in the NPD between July and November.

The Southern Police District (Makati, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Taguig, Pateros), which was able to visit 40,977 houses, reported the second lowest number of deaths in anti-drug operations at 78.

The Quezon City Police District reported 177 suspects killed and 20,573 houses visited.

Arrests and surrenders

The NCRPO recorded a total of 83,027 suspects who surrendered and a total of 10,288 persons arrested.

The Southern Police District reported the most surrenderees at 23,810, while arresting only 2,308.

The Eastern Police District, despite visiting the second highest number of houses, had the lowest number of persons who surrendered at 8,750, and arrests at 915.

The Quezon City Police District meanwhile, made the most arrests at 2,812, while having the second lowest number of persons who surrendered at 11,884.

The Manila Police District had the second highest number of persons who surrendered, reporting 20,156. It was also able to arrest 2,252 people.

The Northern Police District is slightly behind at 18,427 surrenderees and 2001 reported arrests.

Firearms confiscated

The NCRPO as also able to confiscate or recover hundreds of guns since July. The Manila Police District confiscated the most firearms at 277 while the Eastern Police District recovered just 65, the least among the five districts.

The QCPD follows the Manila Police District closely with 210 guns recovered.

The Northern Police District reported 180 confiscated firearms, while the SPD confiscated 147.
