MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Audit wants the Professional Regulation Commission to return P43.821 million in unspecified fringe benefits it gave to its officials, employees, contractual workers and service contractors in 2013 and 2014.

In a report released recently, COA said the grant of financial benefits without authority from President Aquino violates Republic Act 6758 or the Salary Standardization Law and COA Circular in relation to RA 6758.

“We recommended that management require the payees or claimants to refund the amount received as fringe benefits amounting to P43,821,479.60,” COA said. “The management should also refrain from giving fringe benefits without any authority issued thereon.”

“The fringe benefits that the PRC granted to its officials and employees, contractual workers and service contractors were not included in the enumerated allowances and benefits covered by RA 6758 and COA Circular No. 2013-03,” COA added.
