MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration on Wednesday afternoon issued a “yellow rainfall” advisory or “heavy rainfall” warning over Metro Manila and nearby provinces due to the downpour brought by Typhoon Nona.
The weather bureau issued the rainfall advisory at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday.
Aside from Metro Manila, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Zambales, Cavite, Tarlac, Batangas and Quezon (Gen. Nakar) provinces are also placed under heavy rainfall warning. Flooding is expected in low lying areas.
With the yellow rainfall advisory raised, the expected rainfall amount is estimated between 7.5 millimeters and 15 mm within an hour or beyond.
On the other hand, PAGASA issued an “orange rainfall” advisory or “intense rainfall” over Nueva Ecija with advisory that flooding in the area may be threatening.
The orange rainfall advisory is the second in PAGASA’s three-stage rainfall warning, raised in areas where rainfall is between 15 mm and 30 mm within one hour.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains may persist in Laguna, Rizal and the rest of Quezon province for the next two hours.
PAGASA advised the public to keep monitoring the updates on the weather condition and take precautionary measures for the areas affected.
