'Lando' to exit PAR by Monday

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Lando (international name Koppu) is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday, weather bureau PAGASA said on Wednesday.

"Lando" is likely to further weaken into a low pressure area before leaving the country.

At 10 a.m., the center of the tropical depression was located 80 kilometers east northeast of Calayan, Cagayan with maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph). It is likely to move northeast at 6 kph.

Public storm warning signal no. 1 is hoisted over Batanes and northern Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan group of islands. Storm warning signals elsewhere have been lowered.

The areas will continue to experience occasional rains and gusty winds.

The weather will gradually improve in most parts of Luzon as public storm warning signals have been lifted, PAGASA said.
