MANILA, Philippines - The Metrobank Foundation on Thursday night presented this year’s “Outstanding Filipinos” as it marked its 53rd anniversary.
Dubbed as the Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos, 30 teachers, soldiers and police officers were honored for their commitment to excellence, dedication to service and selfless desire to serve communities even in the most trying of circumstances.
Awarded as The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS) were Army Col. Danilo Pamonag, Army M/Sgt. Arnel Cariaga, Army M/Sgt. Ferdinand Lascano, Marine Col. Ariel Caculitan, Marine T/Sgt. Romel B. Bancairin, Navy Disbursing Clerk 3rd Class Dennis Gurrea, Air Force Col. Maxima Ignacio, Air Force Senior M/Sgt. Romeo Austria, Air Force T/Sgt. Adriano Reginales Jr., Technical Administrative Services and Maj. Jonna Dalaguit from the Medical Corps.
Awarded as this year’s Outstanding Teachers were Professor Rejie Palmos of West Visayas State University (Iloilo City), Benjamin M. Castro of Francisco Benitez Elementary School (Tondo, Manila), Amcy M. Esteban of Legarda Elementary School (Sampaloc, Manila), and Irene G. de la Cruz of Carmona Elementary School (Carmona, Cavite), Ronaldo C. Reyes of Tabaco National High School (Tabaco City), Dr. Myrna B. Libutaque of Philippine Science High School- Western Visayas Campus (Iloilo City), Milagros C. Banan of Ernesto Rondon High School (Quezon City), Ernani S. Fernandez Jr. of Palo National High School (Palo, Leyte), Dr. Thomas Edison E. de la Cruz of the University of Sto. Tomas and Dr. Analyn Salvador-Amores of the University of the Philippines Baguio City.
This year’s winners have joined the ranks of the 336 Outstanding Teachers recognized by the Metrobank Foundation since 1985.
Recognized as this year’s Outstanding Police Officers are Senior Supt. Marlo S. Meneses, Senior Inspector Maricris Y. Mulat, Senior Supt. Camilo Pancratius P. Cascolan, Senior Supt. Valfrie G. Tabian, PO3 Adolfo C. Andrada, SPO4 Florante B. Ubina, SPO1 Aurora Joy D. Manuela, SPO3 Dino S. Sagayo, SPO2 Dominador M. Canlas and PO2 Mary Catherine B. Demontaño.

Sobrepeña, the foundation’s president.
