MANILA, Philippines — The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) this month generated new data on the world's major arms trade, including the top country importers to the Philippines in 2014.

SIPRI's data indicates the United States and has consistently been the country's top arms trade partner, having exported $246 million worth of major arms such as aircraft, ships and armored vehicles since 2001.

The chart shows trend indicator values of the Philippines' arms imports from 2001 to 2014 expressed in US$ millions at 1990 prices.

Based on the data, the US exported arms to the Philippines every year except in 2010 when the country instead purchased from Turkey and Italy.

Following the US is Poland and Italy, which exported $20 million and $19 million since 2001, respectively.
