MANILA, Philippines - Beginning Monday, March 9, the flagdown rate of taxi cabs nationwide will be at P30 from the current P40, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said on Friday.
The LTFRB announced that the P10 cut in the flagdown rate of taxi cabs was prompted by the continuous decrease in the prices of fuel in the world market.
As this developed, LTFRB member Ariel Inton appealed to the taxi operators to respect the P10 cut in flagdown rate.
"I'm appealing to them (taxi operators and drivers) to respect the P10 rollback kasi baka mag-away ang mga pasahero at mga driver," Inton said.
He noted that there is no more time to calibrate the taxi meters to set it at P30.
"It will take time to calibrate all the taxi meters at since provisional lang ito," he said.
Inton said taxi drivers who would insist that the flagdown rate is still P40 will be slapped with overcharging.
