Online voters’ registration on during holidays

MANILA, Philippines - Voters can continue registering for the 2016 polls during the holidays through the online registration system iRehistro.

Voter registration at local election offices will resume on Jan. 5.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) spokesman James Jimenez said iRehistro allows voters to fill up registration forms online although voter registration is suspended during the holidays.

“The public should take advantage of their free time to register,” he said.

Under the system, voters should visit www.iRehistro.com or www.comelec.gov.ph to fill out the registration form and print three copies.

They must bring the forms to the election offices in their localities where biometrics data such as photograph, fingerprint and signature will be taken.

The system was designed to shorten the process of registration.

The Comelec had suspended voter’s registration from Dec. 21, 2014 to Jan. 4, 2015 for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
