MANILA, Philippines — Dalia Pastor, the widow of slain race car driver Enzo Pastor, failed to attend the preliminary investigation on the murder case before the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday.

Dalia is a suspect in the murder of Pastor last June alongside businessman Domingo "Sandy" de Guzman, who attended the probe . De Guzman and Dalia were allegedly engaged in an illicit affair when Pastor was still alive.

Dalia and De Guzman's lawyer, Dennis Manalo, said that his client need not appear at the investigation as she did not have to make any defense.

De Guzman, meanwhile, denied anew the charges tagging him as the mastermind behind Pastor's killing and pleaded that the criminal complaint against him be dropped.

He insisted that he was only set up and blamed by detained PO2 Edgar Angel, whom he allegedly hired to target Pastor.

The businessman, also engaged in the racing industry, argued that whatever relationship he has had with Dalia does not necessarily link her to the case. - Camille Diola
