Pinay chef joins renowned Asian cooking competition

MANILA, Philippines - A Filipina chef competed in the 7th Disciples Escoffier Asia Young Talent Trophy (DEYTT) in Hong Kong last September 2-4.

Marie-Rhae Salazar, a Filipina chef, was among aspiring chefs from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam who participated in the recognized leading competition for young Asia chefs.

The South Korean representative, Lee Won Yong, won the competition and will represent Asia at the global final round in France. 

The contestants faced three rounds, each round requiring them to prepare a dish using the given recipes.

Disciples Escoffier, a French association, organized DEYTT. The cooking competition is open to aspiring chefs under the age of 25, with a maximum of five years kitchen experience.
