MANILA, Philippines - Officials of Tacloban City, SM Foundation and the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery (OPARR), yesterday inaugurated (Aug. 27), the newly-renovated and expanded Tacloban City Hospital that was destroyed at the height of last year’s Super Typhoon Yolanda, to serve the city’s 138 barangays.
The city hospital, which expanded its capacity from 50 beds to 100 beds, has been upgraded from a Level 1 to a Level 2 hospital under the Department of Health’s Hospital Capability Levels as it can now perform some surgical procedures on a larger scope, including Ceasarian Section.
The expansion of the Emergency Room, the construction of the Malnutrition Ward and the new Felicidad T. Sy Wellness Center for the Children and the Elderly, have also been added.
SM Foundation turned over yesterday the TabonTabon Health Center, which serves 16 barangays.
