MANILA, Philippines - National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council executive director Eduardo del Rosario has reportedly resigned his post.
Quoting NDRRMC spokesperson Reynaldo Balido, a radio report said that Del Rosario has submitted his resignation letter to National Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin last Apr. 24.
Del Rosario in his letter cited severe fatigue has taken its toll on his health as the reason for stepping down from his post, the report added.
Being a presidential appointee, Del Rosario's resignation must be approved by President Aquino. The NDRRMC chief should also brief his replacement before he fully relinquishes his post, the report said.
The NDRRMC had drawn flak for its snail paced release of updates on the number of casualties caused by the devastation of supertyphoon Yolanda November last year.
