MANILA, Philippines - Federation of the Philippine Industries chairman Jesus Arranza submitted a piece of evidence to the Department of Justice purportedly to show businessman Davidson Bangayan and alleged rice smuggling king David Tan are one.

After being summoned by Justice Secretary Leila de Lima to assist in the smuggling probe, Arranza exhibited a copy of the libel complaint against him by Bangayan in 2005.

The complaint filed before the Manila Prosecutors' Office includes a certification by Bangayan where he notes his alias to be David Tan.

The certification identifies Bangayan as among the stockholders and officials of Advanced Scrap specialist, a scrap trading firm.

Last week, Bangayan approached De Lima to deny he is connected with the suspected big-time smuggler and submitted identification documents to disprove the National Bureau of Investigation's findings against him.

Arranza said, however, that Bangayan was also involved in a case before Calamba City Regional Trial Court where he did not deny he was David Tan.
